French artist Laurent Ajina is known for his expansive wall and ceiling drawings. With seemingly endless webs of lines, he links architectural reference points in living spaces, entrance halls, stairwells, or office buildings. In this way, he reshuffles structural conditions and gives them an altered meaning. He applies the same principle to mobile sculptures by bringing simple moving boxes to prominent locations and providing them with line meshes that reflect the found environment in an abstract way. In photographs, he captures the cardboard, the mesh of lines, and the surroundings—as here for the editon Hamra I, which was created on a roof in the Beirut district of the same name in Lebanon.
